Prof. Seamus Morris is a consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon working in the National Spinal Injuries Unit, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh and the National Rehabilitation Hospital and Clinical Professor of Surgery in UCD’s School of Medicine. Surgery He specialises in spinal surgery and complex trauma. Prof. Morris graduated from UCD in 1995, before completing his basic and higher surgical training in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed a fellowship in spine and scoliosis surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery - Weill Cornell University New York in 2006, before completing further specialised training in complex trauma reconstruction in St George’s Hospital, London, UK. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in 2007 and took up his current post at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2013. He has served as Director of the National Spinal Injuries Unit, and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Mater Hospital from 2013 – 2017, and Clinical Secretary of the Irish Institute of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has served as regional director of higher surgical training in orthopaedic and trauma surgery and is Clinical Professor of Surgery in UCD. He has served on numerous course faculties for spine and trauma surgery, and presented and published numerous national and international clinical papers on spine and trauma surgery in addition to a number of patents. He is a member of the Irish Spine Society, North American Spine Society, Eurospine and AO Spine. His major sub-specialty interests in spine surgery are degenerative spine surgery utilising minimally invasive techniques including lumbar and cervical microdiscectomy, pain management interventions, osteoporotic spine fractures, deformity correction and tumour surgery.       <image:title>Mr. Marcus Timlin - Mr. Marcus Timlin - Spinal Surgeon</image:title>
      <image:caption>Marcus Timlin is a consultant spinal surgeon practising at the National Spinal Cord Injuries Unit, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh. He has a busy surgical practice performing over 500 surgeries and interventions for patients with spinal conditions every year. Following graduation from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1995 Mr Timlin completed his basic and higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in Ireland. He attained a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical Fellowship in complex spinal surgery in Toronto at the Toronto Western Hospital. Working with world leaders in spine surgery from 2007-2008. He has been in practice as a consultant spine surgeon in Ireland since 2008. He was appointed as consultant orthopaedic surgeon to the National Spinal Cord Injuries Unit, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2014. Mr Timlin is the director of the National Spinal Cord Injuries Unit since 2019. Mr Timlin was appointed as the clinical lead for back and neck pain referral pathways by the HSE and RCSI in 2018. He is a past secretary of the Irish Spine Society. Mr Timlin is a trainer for the orthopaedic higher surgical training programme and responsible for teaching junior trainees in all aspects of spine surgery.  He is both a local and international faculty member with an interest in teaching and training in complex spine surgery. He has a strong research history with multiple peer-reviewed papers, abstracts presentations, and book chapters. He is a member of the Irish spine Society, the Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeons, the AO spine organisation and Euro spine. Mr Timlin is dedicated to obtaining an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan for all his patients and enjoys the challenge of this complex surgical discipline. Research Publications 1.       <image:caption>Mr Olan Carmody is a Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic &amp; Spine Consultant in Tallaght University Hospital, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and in the National Spinal Institute at the Beacon Hospital. During his Irish Higher Surgical Training Scheme, he trained under some of Irelands best spine surgeons in all the major Orthopaedic Spine Centres in the country. He trained for two years in the National Spinal Injuries Unit in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. He then completed an excellent International Orthopaedic &amp; Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Mr Carmody specialises in all adult spinal conditions including degenerative spinal conditions, spinal trauma, osteoporotic fractures, degenerative spinal deformity and microscopic/minimally invasive spinal surgery. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally on over twenty occasions - winning three prizes. He remains heavily involved in training, completing a number of years as the Orthopaedic Representative on the Irish Higher Surgical Training Committee.</image:caption>
